Register an Interest WISE KIDS are in the process of organising a National Conference in Wales together with the Wales Internet Safety Partnership (WISP), on young people's use of the Internet and mobile technologies in education and other settings - exploring opportunities and challenges. It is anticipated that the one day interactive conference will be held in South Wales on the 20th of October 2008. The conference will focus on raising awareness of young people's use of Internet and mobile technologies, and will examine what issues educators, youth professionals and policy makers need to address to ensure that young people have the necessary skills and knowledge to use these media confidently, and explore the opportunities these present. Challenges and risks associated with these media will also be discussed, and the conference will explore the legal and safeguarding issues that schools and other organisations need to address to minimise risk caused by misuse of these media. The key strands will be around innovative use of technology in education, children's experiences in virtual worlds, digital literacy, e-safety - legal and good practice guidelines. It is hoped that this conference will stimulate discussion, ideas and concrete action points that can help the sector move forward as a whole, in a way that truly supports young people, and those who work with them. This is a cross sector conference aimed at training officers, policy makers, educators and other professionals with an interest in these issues. Speakers/facilitators will include the Children's Commissioner’s office, Bebo, Habbo, BECTA, Ofcom, WISE KIDS and MediaSnackers. It is also intended that young people will be involved in presentations and a panel session.

Rhyngrwyd 2008 - Uchafu Cyfleoedd, Taclo Heriau Mae WISE KIDS yn trefnu cynhadledd genedlaethol yng Nghymru ar y cyd â Phartneriaeth Diogelwch Rhyngrwyd Cymru (Wales Internet Safety Partnership - WISP) i drafod defnydd o’r rhyngrwyd a thechnolegau symudol gan bobl ifanc ym maes addysg ac eraill - gan ymchwilio’r cyfleoedd a’r heriau. Bwriedir trefnu cynhadledd undydd ryngweithiol yn ne Cymru ar 20 Hydref 2008. Bydd y gynhadledd yn canolbwyntio ar wella ymwybyddiaeth o ddefnydd pobl ifanc o’r rhyngrwyd a thechnolegau symudol. Bwriedir trafod pa faterion sydd angen eu taclo gan addysgwyr, gweithwyr ieuenctid a llunwyr polisïau er mwyn sicrhau bydd y sgiliau a gwybodaeth angenrheidiol gan bobl ifanc i’w defnyddio’n hyderus, ac ymchwilio’r cyfleoedd maent yn cynnig. Bydd hefyd yn trafod heriau a risgiau’r cyfryngau hyn, ynghyd â’r materion cyfreithiol a diogelwch yn wynebu ysgolion a chyrff eraill. Bydd elfennau allweddol y gynhadledd yn trafod defnydd o dechnoleg yn addysg, profiadau plant o feysydd rhithwir, llythrennedd digidol, e-ddiogelwch – canllawiau cyfreithiol ac arferion da. Y gobaith yw bydd yn symbylu trafodaeth, syniadau a mesurau ymarferol i helpu’r sector i symud ymlaen, wrth gefnogi pobl ifanc a’r rhai sy’n cydweithio â nhw. Trefnir y gynhadledd draws sector ar gyfer swyddogion hyfforddi, llunwyr polisïau, addysgwyr a gweithwyr eraill gyda diddordeb yn y materion hyn. Bydd y siaradwyr/trefnwyr yn cynnwys swyddfa’r Comisiynydd Plant, Bebo, Habbo, BECTA, Ofcom, WISE KIDS a MediaSnackers. Yn ogystal, bwriedir cynnwys pobl ifanc yn y cyflwyniadau a sesiynau panel.
