Preston
Geoff Elliott:
Reflecting on how effective mobile
technology is in re-engaging the un-engaged.
The mlearning project loaned advanced PDA-phones to 16-24 year
old NEETS. A methodology evolved over the three years of the
project to mentor young people through SMS, voice, Mobile-format
applications, and installed multimedia resources. We made
mistakes but learnt a lot about what does and doesn't work. This
session will give you an insight into these points and more.
Leon Cych: The Use of Immersive (or Virtual Worlds) in engaging
learners
In this workshop Leon will outline and explore various uses of
Virtual Worlds. He will outline what you need to do to map out
your project and engage learners in an Immersive Environment;
the pitfalls to avoid and the necessary planning and
infrastructure needed to make everything run smoothly. He will
be drawing on plenty of video exemplars of projects already
undertaken by other educators and putting and linking to
numerous online exemplars.
